Without knowing much about Gonzalez, if they drew when Chavez was way past his best times at the age of 36, I'm thinking it won't be a tought fight for Julio in his prime.

Even a young prime Gonzalez could only manage a draw against him, so of course a prime Chavez beats the hell out of him.

Gonzalez was robbed, another one of the many gifts Chavez received throughout his career.

Chavez, by a lot.

Mago was very good at 135 though. Underrated. He'd definitely be the best lightweight in the world today. But against prime Chavez he'd be far outta his league.

In their primes, this would not even be competitive. Chavez is better then MAGO in every category. One sided decision of late KO from Chavez. Prime MAGO drew with a totally shot Chavez and probaby should have lost to journeyman Lamar Murphy. This would be an easy night for Chavez. Gonzalez lacks the speed or power to stop the relentless Chavez.

Wrong answer. Most of the spanish speaking media thought Chavez beat Gonzalez.
Does'nt really matter though, by the time Chavez was fighting Gonzalez, he was no longer coming into fights in the great shape he used to come in.
Chavez' alcohol and drug vices were interfering with fight preperation, and still he beat Gonzalez on that night.

Gonzalez was a B- level champion no more no less.

Wasn't a robbery at all. Chavez picked his spots and picked them well in that. Legitimately close fight that could have gone either way. And the fact that it was makes the whole idea of matching Gonzalez with a prime Chavez so ridiculous.
