Default Is Sergio underrated?

He won the MW ring belt after tearing off Pavlik's face and has defended it 5 times to the best that dared to be great:

4 KOs
1 near shut out to Chavez.

HOF? If not what would you need to see from him to be HOF worthy?

Definitely HOF worthy. Sergio is a special fighter. Didn't start boxing until he was 20, and turned pro at 22.. Despite that he's a P4P fighter and a world champion.

i think most people would actually ask if he's a bit more Over-rated rather than under-rated, considering he's probably in the top 5 P4P in the sport....

I wouldn't worry about Martinez being under-rated....
im sure other posters will give you that assurance so you can stop stressing

Yes, in my book he's HOF material. I want him to accomplish more though. Not sure if he can reach ATG status but that's the goal. He's very underrated for a guy his age. He shouldn't be fighting at that level for someone who's pushing 40.

I think if you rate him as among the current 3-6 best in the world, that's pretty fairly rating him. His story might get him into the HOF, as unusual as it, late start, virtual obscurity until your mid to late thirties, then sharply rising to prominence as one of the best in the world and staying their for a few years at least.

Fight some actual top contenders. Since Pavlik, his opposition has been extremely lackluster. Chavez Jr.s best opponent was Marco Antonio Rubio. Darren Barker's best opponent was some bum they pulled off the streets of London. Dzinziruk's best opponent was Joel Julio. Martinez can shore up his legacy, by beating Golovkin, Pirog, and Ward. At least challenge yourself. He has repeatedly chosen the easier path when it comes to defending his belt, while throwing the excuse of, they won't bring me any money, yet Golovkin, and Pirog, wouldn't bring Martinez any less than Macklin, Barker, and Dzinziruk. What a joke.
