Most will say its not even up for debate even if Floyd was to go 3-0 on the home stretch against Martinez, Pacquiao and a catch weight with a silver back gorilla.......
But i'm sure there are some who will even consider that the greatest boxer of our generation deserves to be mentioned with the greats.. |

If he kept fighting and remained unbeaten against Pacquiao, Martinez, Canelo, and 2 or 3 other top contenders, he'd have a serious argument. Don't think he'd be one of the guaranteed top 10 guys, but he'd certainly be in the mix.

If he somehow fought and beat all of Pacquiao, Canelo, and Sergio- that would be mighty mighty impressive.
I think the ranking of Floyd Mayweather in an ATG sense will raise dramatically after he has been retired for good for a decade. People rank him far, far too low. In 30 years when people look back on these forums, they will be blown away at how a good number of posters claim he is closer to top 50 than top 20. Same with Pacquiao... They are both top 20, in my opinion, and I feel that that will become the consensus in not too too long. |

Think about it, man. If he remained unbeaten after spanning 5 or 6 weight divisions and fighting until just shy of 40 (maintaining absolute elite level success for over 15 years), facing off against the likes of Pacquiao, Martinez, Cotto, Coralles, Castillo 2x, De La Hoya, Canelo, Mosley, Marquez, Hernandez, Judah, etc. Then take into account his H2H rating.
I mean, that puts him on par with the likes of Ali and Duran in my eyes, and that means he's in the mix for top 10. Great longevity, virtually unparalleled dominance, excellent resume, clearly a spectacular fighter on film. Remaining unbeaten for that long, over that much weight, and against that level of opposition would be extremely impressive. It won't happen, but if it did, yeah, someone could put him inside the top 10 and I wouldn't argue with it. |
