The sporting achievements are outstanding. NRL premiership winner. State of Origin player. And should have been Australian rep player as well. Carrying the Dragons to the Grand Final. 3 time boxing world title champion. Giving the biggest pay day to numerous boxers.
But his biggest achievement that will last the test of time is helping to eliminate racial vilification from Australian sport. Before Mundine made his stand on the field, racial vilification was outlawed, but everyone turned a blind eye to it. Mundine made his stand on the field against 100 years of tradition. He paid a very heavy price for it - the Australian jumper itself. Even though he had the talent to play for Australia, his selection would be controversial due to his media profile, and the selectors took the easier route (safer choice of Daley and Fittler who Mundine always beat head to head). After his outbursts, racial vilification was put in the spotlight, and gradually it has been erradicated from Australian sport at all levels. Discuss. |

I actually think his greatest contribution was ressurecting the sport of boxing. He gave it mouth to mouth and revived a dying sport for all races. His willingness to say what he believes and stand up for his principles make him a great role model but I don't think they outweigh his revival of boxing as a sport.

Helping revive australian boxing no doubt.
No way would I have picked Mundine above Daley or Fitler. He would have been a great impact player for NSW of the bench. But not at stating 6. Just sayin |

![]() And I thought Mundine fans couldn't get any stupider or brainwashed. I thought wrong. ****ing spastic. The day Geale knocks out you racist hero, you and the rest of the feral scum who support Mundine can go crawl back to their ghettos. |

Probably raising the profile of boxing when he first crossed over. Though since Soliman 2 he hasn't done much.

There are a few you could go with but the one I am leaning to is his impact on boxing PPV, in particular pioneering the Wednesday night fight nights.
This has stood the test of time and guys like Green and Geale have followed on with the Wednesday night timeslot which has largely proven to be a successful move. |

His greatest contribution to Aussie sports I feel is his entertainment value.
He was a great entertainer in League and continued that in Boxing. I saw the guy run the length of the field to score a try and while running he popped his collar like a smart arse put the ball down and then did some cart wheels, the Red V fags went crazy. Like him or not he was entertaining |
