Two interesting heavy weight fights can be seen on the undercard of Valuev vs Lyakhovich:

Undefeated Italian heavy weight hope Francesco Pianeta(14-0) takes on American Donell Wiggins(24-9) and Mario Preskar(13-0) from Croatia will square off against very tough and experienced Kahi Meehan(33-3).

I think USTV is boycotting that fight as usual. America is way too provincial as was seen in Quintana's win over Williams Saturday.

Yep! Interesting interview! Lyakhovich 's sparring partner was the undefeated giant Ustinov!Interesting news!
Lyakhovich doesnt need to worry. There are Belarussians in Germany, too.
Some compatriots will root for him and loudly support him in his fight against Valuev who is very well known in Germany but not really liked by the Germans.

Good news, Lyakhovich found his passport (he lost before the fight against Wladimir Klitschko, so WK must fight Castillo) and can come to germany to fight.

In 2005 Lyakhovich said, that he cannot come to fight in germany because he cannot leave the US.

Maybe Don King oder Sauerland helped him to find the passport.

If Lyakhovich come in as well prepared as he says he is then he has a good chance to pull the upset. I doubt this will happen though. I think he will do well early but Valuev will start to wear him down as the fight progresses into the late rounds. Valuev has great stamina and never seems to get tired or be hurt.

Valuev KO 11 Lyakhovich

Sergei by UD.

I think Sergei looked good against the much bigger but slow Briggs, he outboxed him easily for 11 rounds but then he foolishly chose to trade with him. That's why he got knocked out. I think he has learned from his mistakes and will fight a smart fight, he will circle Valuev and oubox him all night. Valuev has an awful defense, so he will hit him with some good shots too. The only problem I see is that he seems to be in bad shape, 15 lbs heavier than usual, the long time of inactivity might prove fatal...

Valuev, on the other hand, looked pretty bad against a good journeyman in Bergeron. The fight was very close in my book, and we saw none of that new, improved, faster Valuev that we were promised. Valuev was slow and plodding as always, he has a decent jab but nothing else, he was always overated and would never have been a beltholder but for a few robberies (Larry Donald, John Ruiz) in the first place.

But as another poster has already pointed out, the fight is in Germany, where Lyakhovich is a nobody, so you never know...

Best performance from Valuev so far in his career didn't expect it tbh after the Bergeron fight, but credit must be given where it's due.

Lets hope we'll be seeing more of that vs Chagaev!

Valouev is better than he gets credit for, however, he needs to use his size and strength more, not just box.

Valuev impressed me a lot in his last fight against Lyakhovich.
The Russian behmoth has improved a lot since he started training with the former Russian amateur national squad coach who replaced his long time Armenian coach.
Well done job! There were some moments when I thought that Lyakhovich wouldnt make it to the final bell.Valuev won all rounds in my scorecard.Valuev dominated his entire encounter with Lyakhovich who really gave his best but couldnt cope with Valuev's size, excellent jab,and beautiful combos.
One of the best fights I have ever seen of Valuev.Props to the giant!
Of course I was rooting for Lyakhovich, but he found his match in Valuev.
Nevertheless Lyakhovich isnt over the hill.He will be back very soon beating some of the fighters of the lower echelon of his weigh division.

Yes, very impressive win for Valouev!!!!!!! Great stamina, even in the 12th round!!!!!!! He will beat Chagaev, no doubt about that, he is an extremely hard worker.

His stamina is amazing, isnt it! Damn! Valuev is an extremely huge behemoth.Nevertheless his stamina is better than most of his rivals at heavy weight.I have never seen him really run out of gas.
