Default Who was better P4P in their prime Roy Jones Jr or Sugar Ray Leonard?

What is the reason for your choice?

Im going with Roy Jones Jr because he was too fast, and too dominant, in his prime he didnt really get tested and that wasnt because the competition he faced was sub par (Hopkins, James Toney etc) but because he was so unbelievably good.

Sugar Ray Leonard never enjoyed this kind of dominance.

Thats why I pick Roy Jones Jr.

Yup. And no fighter was moving up 10+ lbs and beating Jones jr in his prime.

Leonard for me. He has a better set of attributes against the very best, with his undentable chin, sharp punching, good finishing, overall speedand mentality. He is almost the ultimate all-round package.

Jones is, in a way, the ultimate one-trick pony. He can be backed to the ropes, but his athletic ability in his prime makes this almost an impossible task. There's been many legendary men in boxing, though, and almost impossible is still possible.

I feel Leonard does better against the very best, while Jones would look better against inferior opposition. Besides that, Leonard proved more.

Roy could fight off the ropes with the best of them. He used it as a strategy as it invited his opponent to come in straight lines. He was a perfect fighter...or as close to perfect as perfect can get.

Not perfect in the least. He had a level of athleticism above anyone else before or since. Technically, there could have been a lot of improvements. A great fighter, on a great night, and he could have been taken.

His flaws do not show up against anyone but the very best.

His countering and leading are as close to perfect as any other fighter as far as meshing it with offense and defense. He could make you miss just by a hair, and drop you on your ass with the first counter thrown.

Or lead with ridiculously powerful hooks and right hands, and step to the side and hit you again, and again. Amazing.

Not really. Roy just had a really bad game plan in the first fight and still was going to win. Any time Jones lets his hands go, Griffin is getting bombed out.
