I know of that Martin Ward and brother Tommy Ward (goes by Taylor in pros), they're both originaly from Birtley (without doubt one of the best amateur gyms on the planet). They're both exceptional, wouldn't suprise me if the earlier poster was right with his suspicion that they're related.

I was training with a few trainers you know out in Tenerife. A bald bloke, called Tony who used to be at David Price's am gym and a guy called Kev. Think they said they said they both knew you. That Tony (think it was Tony) was saying he took you on a squad out to peurto rico n you KO'd some lad in 30 seconds. Anyway, you ever sparred that Ward then?

Not saying that this isn't all hear say but do you honestly think Tony Bellew is gonna come on here and say "yeah, I got battered and dropped by an amateur"? Ye know? Not sayin he's lying but if it's true he's not gonna say it happened. But if it did happen then it really, really doesn't surprise me. It's definitely believable.

it's pretty obvious Bellew wouldn't go as far as to say he never even met the guy if he was lying, there would be too many people to dispute it.

If it happened I'd come on here and say yes it happened! That's me! The fact is I've never even met Joe Ward, I wouldn't even know who he is as I've never laid eyes on the lad.. Heard about him but never met him...
