Sam Peter should never have change his style in the first place. They wanted to give him some skill, make him bob and weave, he doesn't have the stamina to do so. Changing his style didn't make him less easy to hit, they just make him waste energy he didn't have.

I had him as a sparring partner when I was a champion, and when he was younger he was strong, he was incredibly motivated and pumped up, and I knew that if I wanted to show that I am the man in the division I have to fight this guy. I have to take him and after beating him I will become the number one mandatory in two different versions to fight for a world championship belt. So I don’t know. It was desire, and Emanuel and I were on the same page, and it was like, “Come on! Let’s do it. You know let’s take it, let’s take this guy, and I know I can do it”.



We were preparing very hard in the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania. We were training hard. We had like fifteen sparring partners that were coming and going up to camp. They were coming in with a big head, getting busted up in the ring, and then they were leaving back home, because they thought that this Klitschko is something that is easy to knock but they saw the opposite. Anyway, they were great preparation and in this camp in this preparation and after the fight, we got in closer with Emanuel. We just got to know each other on an extreme side, because it was an extreme fight.

You're a true fan. I remember years ago we had some debates re Peter.

I felt his mediocre performances vs tub of goo Toney dropped his stock and confidence. More recently the 2nd Wlad fight, losses to Vitali & Helenius have ended SP as a factor.
But he was involved in many entertaining fights

The guy was scheduled to fight a few months ago but pulled out a few days prior.

Back in the day? What back in the day? Your talking like this was ages back but Peter became known just a few years ago and his one minute of fame lasted about that long. Guy is a foot note in the division, nothing more. This is what usually happens to one dimensional fighters, even ones who compete in a terrible era.
