Flintoff Opponent Revealed!

I hope from the clips I have seen from Flintoff training, that this Dawson is a set up.


Flintoff looks far too slow, and if it is true he has a decent chin, that is even worse, as he could take a prolonged beating.

Everyone has the right if they can pass the medicals to box, but that does not mean they should. I liked Freddie as a cricketer, and he seems a funny bloke on TV, so I hope he knows what he is doing.

Hard to envisage a hand picked opponent working him over. Even if it did begin to happen I think you'd see a white towel sail over the top rope before too long.

I suspect he'll win a few and then get battered by someone at area level. Don't see him staying in boxing past a year because of the training involved.

you see,i don't get this hate,so what if he had no am experience ****ing loads have and done alright or bloody good out of boxing.

Olympic medalists generally get hand-picked easy opponents for their first fights. i don't see why flintoff should do any different

Bowe met a future top 10 contender

Biggs met a future top 30 contender

Carbajal met a future title holder

In the past (pre 1990's) Olympic stars have actually tended to meet decent opposition on debut.

But this has little to do with Freddie. As I mentioned, I hope this 'boxing career' is a set up, as from what I have seen Flintoff would be badly out of his depth against anyone inside today's British top 30. And there are only 35 'active Heavyweights' in the UK, according to boxrec...

and it will get the casual fan more involved, plus as far as i am concerned the more boxing on the box the better, including the documenetaries that will be shown prior to the fight.

Slightly different cases, good luck to Flintoff like all boxers i want him to be safe and more so because of his name. It wouldn't look good if he did get sparked and was out cold on floor by someone decent enough to land a punch.

TBH he looks that poor i'd fancy the lad Iceferg to beat him IMO.

i see what youre saying but surely it makes the sport look worse if an absolute novice with 6 weeks training can win a pro fight? if he gets knocked out people will realise this isnt a game. i dont want him to be sparked or anything but this is the hardest sport in the world and if freddie "has a go" and succeeds surely it makes it look like anyone can do it?

Boxing won't live or die on the strength of what Freddie Flintoff does in the ring against someone with probably even less ability than he has.
