Just heard some news that I thought would interest Canadian Boxing fans. The only accessible way to watch Showtime Boxing events on TV in Canada has been through Superchannel. It's a subscription channel like HBO which you have to pay for. Last month the Gracia-Morales rematch was cancelled last minute and not broadcast on the channel. Apparently they are negotiating the terms of future fights on the channel but what's interesting is TSN is picking up tonight's Mares vs Moreno card.
It's very likely TSN will be picking up future Showtime Boxing events this year like Cotto vs Trout, Khan vs Molin and Hatton vs Sencheko. Reminds me of when TSN use to show HBO events before HBO Canada was introduced and it's good for fans because we won't have to pay for a subscription. |

Yeah TSN used to air boxing all the time, glad it might return. I have both subscription channels anyway but I'm happy that other Canadian sports fans will be able to watch it cheaper. Canadian boxing outside of Montreal is so weak, I hope this brings new fans and creates a demand so the sports networks start airing more fights fulltime, not just when Hockey is on lockout.

I was getting pissed off when i looked for moreno vs mares as i've been hyped on this fight since it was announced but couldn't find it on super channel then by fluke i saw it listed on TSN 2 and didn't know whether to believe it or not. i don't even like super channel i just got it for boxing.
