Come on this is pathetic. Everyone overrates Matthyse. He's just fought a whole bunch of bums and gets far because of his KO power. Any good fighter who can handle punchers will school Matthyse.

You can have a case for Lucas or Danny. Those who felt Khan was the top dawg at 140 side with Garcia. Those who think Lucas in reality really still is undefeated and robbed vs Judah and Alexander side with him. I think Alexander is as good as Khan. I have Mathysse #1 140lber, but not by much. Mathysse vs. Garcia I think a battle, perhaps even FOTY many want to see between the 2 destroyers.

What i like about Matthyse is his application, he's an intelligent stalker, yes he takes shots but nothing that clean, and he packs, he's got that natural heavy hands look to him
Is he the best at 140? im not sure Marquez is the best fighter in the division i think everyone can agree on that, after him comes Matthyse and a host of others, if Tim Bradley is a WW now for good then i feel id have little choice but to name Matthyse as the #2 in the division, he's better than Danny Garcia IMHO, and if the two fought i think Matthyse would walk through him TBH |

The fight that needs to be made at JrWW is Matthysse vs Garcia to determine the best JrWW. Rios is not even part of the equation because of the TR/GBP feud. |

No one just "walks through" Garcia, Matthysse is perhaps even more overrated than Maidana was a few year ago.

How so?He's got 30 ko's knocked both down judah/alexander & his only 2 losses are split decisions to guys in their hometown. That's far from the truth it's actually the opposite. He's fought judah, alexander, soto, ajose & is willing to fight anybody overrated?wtf? How?.Garcia fought inflated featherweight 35 yr Morales 2x & china chin khan who got beat worse already(50 sec by prescottt).Rios got gift of the year vs abril & was down 4-2 before the ref stopped the fight.Peterson beat khan in controversial dec & if that wasn't enough his testosterone level was too high.Khan just got stopped silly again in 4 rounds & the rugged maidana moved up to 147lb in order to avoid his countrymen Lucas.Marquez is fighting pac & has never ensued who he wants next or if he's retiring, am I missing something?Don't think so but you sure are.

Matthysse is 30 years old and in his prime, while Garcia is 24 years old and still improving.
I feel we've seen Matthysse at his best while Garcia still has years to go. It really depends on when they face each other. The sooner for Matthysse the better. |
