Default pirog needs to get a move on

The guy only fought once this entire year, since beating jacobs by in 2010 he hasn't done shit, i understand he's been avoided but 160 is stacked and he built a bit of a profile after beating jacobs.
he's seriously gonna miss huge chances to cash in on some big fights with the rate things are going for him

he was a flash in the pan who's career defining victory will be over some prospect who never reached the top neither.

i agree. i would love to see him again.

He looked too slick.vs jacobs.

but the guy is just too much risk > too little reward fighter.

Hence martinez stayed well clear of that shit.

Pirog is no big deal. He only has 20 fights, and he has been a pro for over 7 years.

even if he beats Golovkin, he doesn't even become the leading contender in the divison. Geale is by far a more worthy challenger to Martinez.

He's probably top 5 right now but people get carried away with him.

Pirog has struggled with injuries. Don't dismiss him so easily, he is a very good fighter who will be back on the big stage.

His a Russian Calzaghe..... probably stay in and around Russia defending his WBO belt until the later stages of his career, when he'll probably fight and decision a 45 year old Martinez and then call it a day.

I just looked, and Box Rec has him at 7. There are a couple guys above him that I think he would beat, but on the other hand, there are a couple guys below him that I think he might lose too. Who the **** knows with this guy? His inactivity is nothing new. He's 32 years old with 20 fights!

The good thing is that the lineage is very clear at 160, so his WBO trinket doesn't really matter much.

I'd probably go:

Martinez
Geale
Sturm
Chavez
Golovkin
Quillan
Macklin
Pirog.

Yeah Martinez is, without question the number 1, some might have doubted him recently but beating Chavez like he did underlines his superiority over the division

If it wasn't for the sanctioing bodies ****ing around, the titles would have never been split up. BHop had all 4. Taylor had to give up a title to rematch BHop, and another one to fight Winky. Pavlik's team somehow managed to convince the WBC and WBO to recognize the same mandatories, but as soon as Martinez got the belts, the WBC and WBO started screwing with him. My point is that the lineage is crystal clear: BHop, JT, Kelly, Sergio. Any "titlist" who is not part of that lineage has NEVER BEEN THE CHAMP. 160 is the only division that is that clear.

Yes Sergio has the crown, quite clearly. Does not mean he would beat them all but he deserves the recognition as the one and only champ at 60. Pirog pulled out of the Golovkin fight, right? He sparked out Jacobs and looked good doing it, for all we know, he may be the best amongst all of them. But I can't rank him too high right now because he simply hasn't done enough.

Lets hope he gets back on track so we can see how good he is vs the top ten.
