Hernan Marquez-Brian Viloria, who you got?

Magic fight. Arguably the two best flys in the world if not the two most highly rated. Great mesh of styles, Marquez wants it close, Viloria wants to establish range but is no runner and his left hook at mid-range might be the best punch at that type of range in boxing. Stalking south-paw jab versus aggressive counter-puncher, champion v champion. This is the kind of fight that happens all to rarely but we get one this weekend.

Why?

And does the fact that Roman Gonzalez is boxing his latest nobody on the undercard ("co-feature" my ass) mean that he's finally ready to step up in weight and class and box the winner?

Looks like Marquez is getting better.Kid was a young pup when he loss to Mepranum and Donayri.Viloria is beatable.He has

stamina probs but should have the power to stop Marquez.Marquez is not as talented as Solis or Sosa though.

Yeah, Marquez looks like a beast to me though I think fly might be the roof for real achievment for him - so this is it. He seems really, really ready. I favour Viloria more than just a little but that straight-left is a game changer. If Viloria boxes his way into the fight he should be fine but you never know.

I really like Marquez' style, fun to watch. Difficult one to call, I've gone Marquez by stoppage primarily because I think he hits too hard for Viloria to handle, and unlike Segura, Marquez won't go crazy and leave himself open to Viloria's counters.

the key is viloria's stamina. i have no doubt that he can beat tyson marquez, who is on a hot streak now, but viloria has to be very active and not gas out. a well-conditioned viloria is hard to beat.

I think stamina will be an even bigger issue for Marquez if it's true he's been having problems making weight.

is he having problems again? the supposedly fight against mayol, he failed to make weight and needs the help of the weighing scale itself to magically make the weight.

Those were the rumors when the fight was first pushed back. He says there's no problems now, but of course the fighter and his trainer always say that before a fight.

Maybe both these guys will fail to put their foot down and close the show, who knows? I've gone for Brian via a KO but what makes this fight so very appealing is the fact that there are loads of different possibilities.

It's exactly the same level of uncertainty I had with Mares/Moreno last week and it's the kind of match you want to be spoiled on, getting it every week, like this. I slightly favoured Mares last week but wouldn't pick. I could picture it every which way. This is the same and I do very slightly favour Viloria but I can see anything happening here. I couldn't pick an outcome. I can see them all happening. I wish we could get Roman Gonzalez in some fights like this too. That kid needs a match with some intrigue. He could be in the ring with either of these guys.

On the one hand, I think Viloria can outclass the field at the weight.

OTOH, I think any huge banger can put his lights out - and Tyson is one of the biggest down there, and fairly skilled to boot.

With the lineage being passed around between journeymen it looks like it's about to be usurped by this unification fight.

By that I mean anyone would have a hard time arguing against the winner of this being the best flyweight in the world.

For Marquez, there's an excellent case to be made with the ruination of El Nica twice over combined with a slew of B+ conquests in the last couple of years (including avenging his sole loss outside the one to Donaire) - knocking everybody he's faced down multiple times or out. Then you add Viloria's name as a cherry on top?

For Viloria, look at his last three. Pingo, El Azteca, and Romero. Murderer's row FFS. He'll have damn near cleaned the joint out if he beats Marquez to feather his cap. Sure, he'll have only unified two belts - but he'll certainly be the undisputed #1. Igarashi and Mthalane can go fuck themselves with their WBC and IBF hardware.
