If you look at the end of the Woods-Jones fight, Ward actually gets into the ring with Jones. Think,maybe he had been in camp with Jones at the time.

Ward must have only been 16 or something.

Yes, Ward is friends with Jones and looks up to him. If u watch some of Jones fights even before he fought Woods, u would see Ward come down to the ring with Jones. Back when Ward had cornrows when he had hair lol
