Default Who were (are) the best "shoe shiners" in boxing!

I know many of us see shoe shinning as an, all flash no substance type of tactic, but I argue to differ. Shoe shinning which is a bit of a lost tactic could be very effective as a diversion to set up a a big punch, and no one in my opinion did it better that Camacho and Leonard. (Roy was good at it too). Thoughts.

First name that comes to mind is Devon Alexander who likes to yell at every damn jab he throws to make sure that everybody notices he just threw a punch. It's probably a good idea if the fight goes the distance, but it is annoying as hell.

He's got the bad habit (like Judah) of jabbing at thin air while moving everywhere, so the fact that he's yelling knowing that he won't land the punch he's throwing makes it hard for me to be a fan of his.

Leaders for modern day in my eyes are Mike Jones and Amir Khan.

Beau Jack shined shoes for a living after his career.

Cus D'Amato refused to let him shine his shoes, saying "The most entertaining lightweight of all time shouldn't be shining my shoes"

Right now, Timothy Bradley is the guy who stands out most to me.

Joe Calzaghe was a master at it as well, probably right up there with Leonard. Paul Williams did it quite a bit as well and was pretty good at it.

I think it's the down side to being a volume puncher. You can't throw a hundred punches a round with bad intentions behind each one.

Well you maybe could, for just one round.

I forgot about Meldrick Taylor and Calzaghe, they were very good at it, and effective.

Bernard Taylor, when he stopped running long enough to throw punches. He spent 176 seconds every round on his bicycle and the four other seconds throwing thirty punches with blinding spend before he went back to dancing away from danger.
