reading 'the e myth', or even the pulp classic, 'rich dad poor dad', one realises that to be successful in business, a model should be created. in short, what this model is supposed to achieve is 'predictable results and outcomes'. profitable AND predictable results.
totalpac, recently wanked off over chauncy wellivers 'great business model'. what he was really championing was how welliver created predictable results, ie; fight bums and pad a record to achive a higher ranking in an alphabet boxing body. a path demori is obviously taking.. the problem with the 'boxing buisness model' (BBM) that welliver used and demori admires is that the 'product they are selling' is a fake. the first time they step out of their BBM and fight an opponent with credentials, they move from their BBM that demands a 'predictable result or outcome'. we saw what happened to welliver when he took just a small 'risk' with tank williams. welliver got beaten, and his BBM falls over, his credibility becomes 'bankrupt', and his days as a fighter are over. the same will happen with demori, IF he ever goes outside his BBM. real fighters dont need a BBM. they may get financial advice, and employ a promotions manager if they are good enough (chris john should have one, there would be indonesian companies lining up for him to be the face of their products). the BBM is really just bums fleecing an unknowing public of cash, further destroying the reputation of boxing. real fighters climb the ladder. they fight the best they can handle. take their losses and learn. BBM= BUM! . Last edited by swingin; 09-26-2012 at 06:50 PM. |

All true. This can be achieved at different levels of boxing also, both domestic and international. A fighter can be "seen" to be stepping up, but is still well within his comfort zone. The business of boxing

It's one of life's great mysteries how de Mori has managed to attained WBC #20 ranking. I guess you could refer to having Don King get you a rating way beyond your achievements as a "plan".

These bums think they are 'talente boxers' and believe their self promotion and are shit scared of stepping up and taking risks fighting real contenders. They just want to read their own publicity and show off to their small fan base being family and friends that know jack shit about boxing. Great to come from wealthy backgrounds that helps pay for this fantasy trip

I think Demori and Welliver are smart
its a good buisiness plan if Demori was more active and Welliver would win em all for famous examples I would say Hasim Rahman George Foreman Shannon "the Cannon" Briggs they created 'Ballyhoo' fighting a lot of bums sometimes a string of them in a row. But then they would take on the toughest guys in the world fearlessly inexperienced Derrek Chisora fought the tough guys and lost |

Saw Demori about 7 years ago in a gym sparring a novice amateur heavyweight and he was getting outclassed, so it's a testament to the busisness brains that are behind him that he has got this far with such little boxing fundamentals and ability.
It's also a sad indication of how boxing has fallen so far in that someone like him can be taken seriously and rated so highly. I suppose all the hungry young big fellas with sporting ability are playing some code of football and not interested in boxing, but that makes sense, it's not as demanding, pays better, gets more recognition and is better supported throughout junior development. |
