Default Are the lower weight classes irrelevant?

It seems everyone cares about the Heavyweight division.

The "everyone" you mention, VGA, are just the fair weather fans the sport can well do without

It's true. Why would anyone watch Nonito Donaire fight Toshiaki Nishioka when you can watch Robert Helenius fight Sherman Williams for all the marbles.

Yep, it's shows the quality of fans rather than the quality of the weight classes.

Little guys are an acquired taste.

Define "lower weight classes." I can't name the minimum weight or light flyweight champions, and I follow the sport pretty closely.

Go watch Adrian Hernandez vs that Thai guy in his last fight. Go watch Donaire drop guys like bags of rocks.

I'll admit though, I'm not that well informed on the smaller weight divisions.

Middleweight is like the hottest division out there.
Welterweight too.

Why would anyone care about the lower weights when we just had Klitschko-Wach and possibly Klitschko-Thompson III?

lol Heavyweight is completely dead. Tyson Fury is a contender now. That speaks volumes.
Tyson Fury vs Mike Tyson as contenders. 2010's vs 1990's lol

Yeah, because no one cares about:
Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley, Guerrero, Berto, Alexander, Maidana, Matthyse, Garcia, Rios, Broner soon, Marquez, Khan, Peterson, Ortiz, Cotto, Canelo
(All of these fighters can potentially fight eachother apart from Marquez vs light middleweights).

It's The ****.
