Default Scoring even rounds?

Is it generally discouraged? I just watched the 3 Pacquiao-JMM fights and in each fight I had (at least) one even round. It was simply too difficult to call.

I'm a boxing novice so maybe I don't know what I'm doing.

1st fight - 112-111 Pacquiao
2nd fight - 114-112 Pacquiao
3rd fight - 114-113 JMM

Pro judges shy away from it and really try hard to decide who won a round. But,one even round is generally accepted.

Gil Clancy always had at least one round even when he scored for HBO.

im ok with it

i mean if two guys land similar amounts of punches with similar effects and neither guy backs down or takes control of the action than nobody won the round

or especially in a round where nothing happens or neither guy throws much probably could be said for a cautious round ones

I think it's more fair as giving one guy the round while it's hard to separate them. Because you already know where the round is going to end up and that's with the guy you prefer, so that's where impartial scoring ends.
And sometimes you can't go anywhere but even (Haye vs Harrison round 1 and 2 ring a bell?).

So to keep things fair, even rounds are important.
I have no problem at all if someone scores 3 or 4 even rounds in a close 12 round bout.
