Ok, I'll admit that Camacho was one of my first "villians" in boxing. You know, the guys who just rub you the wrong way and you hope to see lose some day? The keys to being a great villian are showmanship and being good enough to not let your detractors see you lose. Camacho was both of those.

He earned my respect by lasting the full 12 against JCC and as I gained experience in life, I was saddened to learn about his ongoing drug and domestic abuse problems. I realized his showmanship ended when he walked out of the ring and began to appreciate him as a fighter and entertainer more than I did as a youngster.

Boxing lost a big part of its recent history. Hopefully, fans of his will remember him fondly and those with similar demons are inspired to get help. Not even the "Macho" man was able to beat that problem single handedly.

I remember that fight. Ray looked terrible. I remember Ray either wanted to fight Camacho or I think Bronco McKart. I find it hard to watch this to be honest.

A lifetime of living fast will attract a fast demise and it can come in any form. This is another sad reminder that we have to be responsible for ourselves and the situations we put ourselves in. That said, Camacho DID have a full life. He lived the way he chose to fid better or worse. Rest in peace champ.
Couldn't have said it better. Thoughtful words and a tasteful post.

RIP Macho Man.
