I just watched the Hatton fight and he has to be given massive props for jumping straight in with a decent/world class fighter after a 3 year lay off. He could have fought anyone - especially a 25-10 type of popular Brit fighter - and still made the same money but he went for it.
As always he got hit more than he should but he was probably just ahead on points after 8. If only our "name" fighters would do something similar and really test themselves. Its the desire to fight the best of the best that has the likes of Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Ali, Jones, Holyfield, Chavez etc are so highly regarded. |

I was pretty gutted tbh.
I thought Hatton looked rusty yes, but not shot. He obviously was going to need to sharpen up and carry on with his fitness but I thought if he just get through this, and have another 4 months training he will make a good fight against Paulie but hit in the sweet spot which is all the more vulnerable from all the boozing and drugs. ah well lad gave it a go, I just think he is not going to be able to think "well, now i know" I think he's going to wake up on monday morning and think "maybe i can do better...." who knows |

True. The difference between Hatton and either Green or Mundine is that Hatton truly believes he is the best fighter in the world and therefore it would be contradictory to what he believes for him to have to fight soft opponents. he's wrong of course but his beliefs guide his actions.
Mundine and Green only say they are the best publicly, but internally they know they are not and they fear the world class fighters so they will not get in the ring with them at their best. all that being said it's always great to see an Englishman lose especially when it leaves thousands of grown men crying at Manchester Arena |
