It's what's called a 'loss leader'. They make a loss on this fight but it raises Gurerro's profile so much he makes more the next.

How can any of you have an issue with fighters that step inside the ring and put their lives in danger with every punch they take. Have any of you ever heard of Gerald MCclellan? How about Duk Koo Kim? Did you see Berto's face after the fight? What about Guerrero's face. How can any of you have an issue with a fighter that has hired a management team who has the responsibility of making sure their fighters are rewarded financially not just for themselves (the fighter), but family...etc. Some management teams negotiate better than others, plain and simple.

I have an Idea....put down the Cheetohs and popcorn, get off the fucking couch, go to a gym, train and then get inside a fucking ring. Then maybe, just maybe...you'll have a fucking clue. SMH!!!!

I dont have an issue with Boxers making good money but it should be shared in a fair way. You have The lineal SMW fighting the lineal LHW champion fighting each other for a total purse of 1.6-1.7 Million and then you have a guy who isnt even Top 5 in his own division and a steroid cheat getting the money those two get together just because of the fact that he is signed to a powerful Manager.

exactly.

boxing is no tennis and when you fight guys who can hit or who can punch you often because they are technicly sound than both should get paid well, because they bring in the audience and not the hbo bosses but the boxers risk health issues during and after the boxing career.
