for example: edwin valero was 27 wins with 27 ko's. he was 5ft 6 tall, but had a reach of 69inches. for his height that's a long arm reach.
sergio martinez - 5'10 with a 75 inch reach. known as a big puncher. marvin hagler - 62 wins with 52 k.o's and he was 5'9 and had a 75 inch reach. thomas hearns - 62 wins with 48 ko's. he stood at 6'1 and had a very rangy 78 inch reach. george foreman - 76 wins with 68 ko's. he was 6'3 with 82 inch reach Lucas Matthysse - 32 wins 30 ko's and he's 5'6 with a 69 inch reach marcos maidana - 32 wins with 29 ko's and is 5'7 with 69 inch reach edison miranda is 5'10 with 77 inch reach all the above hard punchers have long arm reach for their height. this seems to be common among the biggest punchers. |

I dont think so, no.
I think there could be many examples given of power punchers with shorter arms, and non power punchers with the same ratios as the fighters listed above. |

The longer your arms, the more powerful your straight punches are (jab and backhand). It's a fundamental principle of torque. E.g. Wladimir Klitschko
However, short armed fighters throw better hooks e.g. Tyson |
