Might not be a champion, but Librado Andrade lost all but one of his amateur fights I believe. Was twenty something and one.

Did Rocky Marciano fight as an Amatuer? I believe he turned pro rather late in age?

Rocky in the amateurs :
Quote:
Amateur circuit
While awaiting discharge, Marciano, representing the army, won the 1946 amateur armed forces boxing tournament. His amateur career was interrupted on March 17, 1947, when Marciano stepped into the ring as a professional competitor. That night he beat Lee Epperson by a knockout in three rounds. In an unusual move, however, Marciano returned to the amateur ranks and fought in the Golden Gloves All-East Championship Tournament in March 1948. He was beaten by Coley Wallace during the tournament.[2] He continued to fight as an amateur throughout that spring and competed in the AAU Olympic tryouts in the Boston Garden. There he knocked out George McGinnis, but hurt his hands during the bout and was forced to withdraw from the tournament. The McGinnis fight was his last amateur bout.[3] His amateur years, with an 8-4 record, would be the last time Marciano experienced a loss.[4]

In late March, 1947, Marciano and a few of his friends traveled to Fayetteville, North Carolina, to try out for the Fayetteville Cubs, a farm team for the Chicago Cubs baseball team.[5] Marciano lasted three weeks before being cut from the team. After failing to find a spot on another team, he returned to Brockton and began boxing training with longtime friend, Allie Colombo. Al Weill served as his manager and Charley Goldman as his trainer and teacher.

Marciano did fight as an amateur. In fact, he lost as an amateur after turning pro. Back then, you could have one fight fight as a professional and return to the amateurs if you felt the need to further hone your skills.

I think I read Rocky's amateur record was around 8-4, but I'm not certain.

i heard qawi's was nil....i dunno if that gets around the thread title becuase a pro kickboxer would technically have no wins as an amtuer boxer

Quote:
Qawi, born Dwight Braxton on January 5, 1953, learned how to handle himself on the tough streets of Camden, N.J., where he was convicted of armed robbery at age 19. He spent more than five years in prison where he learned to meld his street fighting background with elements of the Sweet Science.

Inside prison, a fellow inmate named Malcolm Lewis taught him how to use his feet, how to move and have a good center of balance, something that proved to be very valuable to the 5-foot-6 and a half-inch brawler who came to be known as the "Camden Buzzsaw."

"I learned how to fight on the streets," Qawi told MaxBoxing.com from his home in Somers Point, N.J. "I was a street fighter and boxing was always plan C for me when I got out of prison."

Qawi was 25 when he was released and with no amateur experience, he figured going to trade school was his best option. That was until fate stepped in and a man named Ike Hammonds, who saw Qawi bust people up in the streets, approached him shortly after he was released from prison.

"I was walking down the street and this guy who seen my work on the street drove by," Qawi said. "He jumped out of his car and told me I'd be a champion."

Hammonds bought Qawi his first pair of trunks, hand wraps and other equipment, and brought him to Joe Frazier's gym in Philadelphia. After only a month of working out, he had his first professional bout in 1978. Three years later he was on the threshold of greatness when he took on Matthew Saad Muhammad for the WBC light heavyweight championship.
