based on ability, i'd say he's borderline.
But based on his personality, his fans, the uniqueness of his events. (There is no event in boxing like a ricky hatton event) I'd say he might just squeak in, although i don't think it should be 1st time. |

If it was purely based on achievements I'd say no. That's not a slight on Ricky by the way, he had a very good career but I would keep inductions to the hall only for very special fighters. However the IBHOF is also for people who brought a lot to boxing, and I don't think there's ever been a fighter who had the support of Hatton. I was never a fan of his style, and to be honest the football crowd he attracted wasn't my thing, however the fact that this guy managed to get 30,000 British fans to travel all the way to Vegas was unbelievable. The guy brought boxing to the masses in Britain.

He is a hall of famer. Beat Kostya Tszyu who was coming off a good win against Mitchell and looked in good shape. He also beat Jose Luis Castillo who still had a lot of Castillo left in the tank.
He's a huge hit in Britain as well. You've never seen fans like Ricky's. |

I can see this happening for the same reasons. The thing I like about Hatton is his honest opinion of his abilities, or lack thereof, in his last fight that he touched on in his last press conference. He did beat some pretty good fighters and only lost to two future ATG's in his prime. This last fight is a write off for me since he was out of the ring for so long, gained a ton of weight and had issues with drugs and alcohol. Getting back in the ring and testing the waters against a fairly good fighter wasn't his best move, but I understand why he did it. At 34, he didn't want to work his way back over a 2-3 year period. At least now he knows he doesn't have it anymore and hopefully he will stay retired. |

there gonna put hatton in the HOF but not naz, besides beating an old kostay what else did he do that puts him above prince naseem, your gonna put a white fighter there and then disenfranchise another man based on his religion. pricks.
