I do believe that neither emperor has much clothing left.
I'm sure some will rush to defend Roach, citng his long history & blah blah blah, but I'm not buying it. Do any of his fighters have good defense? Ariza should be driving a bus. Pac finally did away with his advice, and looked the best he's looked in years. Lean, fast, & flexible. |

No I don't they're overrated simply credit must be given to Marquez and Garcia, the fighters who exposed the flaws of Pacman and Khan, 2 of boxing's best offensive machines. Believe it or not Roach's fighters do display some defense, especially Pacman, it's just that basically their footwork IS their defense since they are so fast. They used their fast footwork to move away or move laterally to counter with angles. Khan did the mistake of standing in front of Garcia to trade and Manny looked faster than ever countering Jmm, but both decided to lead and got figured out. Pacman a much more daunting task of course.

Roach is as good a trainer now as he ever was but his fighter is not the fighter he was. Trainers are often given too much credit, I have always held that it is the fighter that is 99.9% of the equasion. Pacq is on the downslide and that is the reason he got beat. As far as Roach goes, when Paq was at his best, any one of many trainers would have done just as good a job as he did. Like is say, "the fighter is 99.9% of the reason he wins or looses", not the trainer.

Roach has proven he is a great trainer.
Recently, Amir was always a knockout waiting to happen and had been flattened before he came to Roach, Roach took Pac though one of the greatest career runs in history. Ya'll idiots |
