Default Boxing is to hit and not get hit, so why post fight do boxers say stuff like this....

Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, so why do boxers say stuff like this post fight?

Boxer: "If you jump in the shower, you're going to get wet...same with boxing"

Interviewer: "You seemed to get hit a lot during the fight. Did you expect that?

Boxer: "Well getting hit is part of the game"

Etc. Why say stuff like this if boxing is about hitting and not getting hit?

Really?

Because getting hit is unavoidable, even though its the ultimate goal. Its literally a fact of boxing that you will get hit during a fight

So, why do they instill this into young fighters? They may as well say "Ignore the motto of "hit and not get hit" as you will definitely get hit many times!"

It just seems stupid to say "hit and not get hit" when it's ultimately impossible to avoid.

You're taking that phrase too literally. It just means, over the course of the bout, a combination of good offense and defense will decide the winner.

it just means boxing about hitting without getting hit "ideally" realistically it doesn't matter if your Whitaker, Pep, or Mayweather your gonna get hit.

What the hell is so hard to understand about this? If I said "its hot as shit outside" would you have a problem because its not the same temperature as a piece of dog shit?

You're supposed to avoid getting hit as much as possible while hitting your opponet as much as you can, its as simple as that.

Your a ****ing idiot

Your going to get hit. Obviously.

But you have to try and punch without getting hit back. Otherwise you will lose the fight.

Every year people get killed crossing the road, we know it will happen. Should we teach our kids to close their eyes and put their fingers in their ears when they cross? Or should we teach them to stop, look and listen anyway to minimize the risk?

the goal of a football player is to score a touchdown without getting tackled, no player who gets the ball regularly runs up field without ever being tackled

a baseball player steps up to the plate to get on base, is this always the case no

a basketball player goes to the foul line to take 2 shots he misses one it happens

the goal is to hit and not get hit but the reality is, well you know

Name a fight that went past 1 round where one of the fighters didn't get hit. Take your time.

Even the greatest defensive fighters in history got hit in EVERY match they fought in unless they blew the guy out in 30 seconds.

New school boxing fans are a ****ing waste...In a fight, you're bound to be hit...The point is to limit the punishment you recieve and inflict more punishment on your opponent...Dont understand why you're trying to nitpick at this...Its easy to understand.
