So why doesn't Canelo Alvarez fight Austin Trout?

Well I don't blame him if he decides to fight Floyd... Big $, Floyd is undefeated, much bigger fight. As for Canelo taking anybody else on besides Floyd, or Trout I dissaprove.

Yeah, if he fights Floyd no-one can say anything. If he fights another guy from a lower weight-class, or someone clearly inferior to Trout, he deserves all the criticism that will come his way.

Floyd Mayweather isn't a fully fledged 154 pounder by any means. Alvarez is much bigger than him.

He should have replied to Austin Trout when he called him out at the Cotto fight.


Alvarez shows enthusiasm and supposedly wants the big fights but when he gets called out he walks out the building.

You answered your own question, because he was at the Cotto - Trout fight. Canelo is not dumb, he is trying to cash in on his celebrity rather than his real skills as a fighter.

He said he wants Floyd, Martinez, Cotto, the absolute elite in his weight neighborhood, then after Cotto-Trout, he said he wouldn't mind fighting Trout as he didn't mind fighting Mosley, Kirkland or Williams when they were high risk low reward match-ups.

But it seems like it's always complicated with Canelo and respect.

At the end of the day if he wants the big fights then he could have got in the ring with Trout. The fight would have had some hype.

Well, he seems like he wants these fights and talks about them but they never come to fruition.

If you want the fight enough against an opponent you will get in their face.

Mosley did it with Mayweather. He wanted that fight.


James Kirkland? The guy who got knocked out by a relatively unknown fighter named Nobuhiro Ishida.

The same guy who had a farce of a fight with Carlos Molina.

Yes, he knocked out Angulo while going down himself.

James Kirkland and Paul Williams would be easy pickings for Alvarez.

Perfect choices to look good against.

Paul Williams was pretty much shot in his fights with Lara and Ishida.

quite frankly, i was not impressed by trout performance, sure he won over cotto, but i got a feeling, that trout got no power, average hand speed and looked a little bit lanky. But maybe i simpy dont know shit about boxing, lol

unfortunately Canelo is a bankable star and Trout is not. The money that can be made from Canelo vs Trout is not equal to the amount of money that can be made by Canelo vs several other fighters who have greater star power than Trout, Its as simple as that; money. However Canelo needs to do exactly that, because a fight against anyone with less skill or value than Trout would be outright bullshit.

DLH and Golden boy are about making money so dont expect too many fan freindly bouts expect the most reward for the least amount of Risk, every time in the Canelo' reign. The best opponent will usually be a slightly faded name or a lighter weight fighter coming up. Goldenboy has their spies and know who is slipping or has holes in their game. They will continue their machinations, smoke and mirrors.
