Default Why did Primetime interview Marquez in Spanish after the fight and not English?

Marquez can speak English, so it didn't make sense to me that they interviewed him in Spanish and then translated what he said into English!

Lot's of Mexicans speak English and pretend they can't. It's some weird point of pride to them.

I stand corrected. Pretty sure all interviews i've seen of him have been translated.. Which is odd.. if his english is that good.

I just thought it's wasting time by translating what he's saying to English, when he could of just spoke in English and shortened the interview. It's always nicer to hear from the horse's mouth, rather than through a translator. We know how many times translators can **** up what a fighter actually says.

Marquez feels more comfortable answering in Spanish. Lets be honest, if you had the choice to answer in your 1st or 2nd tongue, what would you answer in?

No problem at all, you still heard what he said through the interpreter.

Probably the most sensible post you ever made, well done.

Like Craney said, if the fighter has to translate himself into English then we maybe arn't hearing from the horses mouth any more than we would be if he gave his own words in Spanish and then got translated?

**** knows, but at the post fight press conference the interpreter was woeful. He kept misquoting Marquez and even took liberties, adding all this praise to Bob Arum that Marquez never even said.

The interpreter on HBO fights with glasses is the best one. He actually says what the fighters say, accurately.
