This is interesting:
"Pacquiao is aching to get back at Marquez, saying he could have stopped him in the seventh or eighth round had it not been for Marquez's last-second connection." Ok, I'll admit, anything can happen in a fight. But... 1. If you couldn't finish JMM in the 5th rd, it's unlikely you'll do it at all 2. You've had NUMEROUS opportunities to stop Marquez. In the first fight you had him in deep water but didn't drown him. Second fight, you couldn't stop him after the KD. Fourth fight, you didn't finish him when he was hurt. Three strikes and you're out! Out cold! 3. Please don't suggest the KO was a result of a lucky punch. He's landed that punch on you many times throughout the 4 wars. That one just happened to be the prettiest of them all. Last edited by gyll; 12-13-2012 at 09:59 PM. |

"Accept it, move on" sounds so cold...
(Here is the actual quote.) "Manny doesn't have to (feel) bad. That might happen to me as it happened to other fighters he faced (before)." "We must accept joys and sorrows. In this case it is difficult to accept defeat but you have to accept it and if possible, move on." - JMM |

I hope he really said that. Takes a lot of balls and heart to say something like that after knocking them out. Tyson didn't even knock a person out and then say "Accept defeat, move on". That's like Deebo saying "Go to sleep" while he chokes you out.

which begs the question: why couldnt tell himself the same thing when he lost the 2nd and 3rd?
ignoring other factors (ring generalship, etc.), jmm as a counter-puncher makes people give in his favor; e.g. pac landing 2 clean blows, jmm countering with 1. most boxing scribes score it for the counter, as evidenced by how many "experts" scored the first 3 fights. |

I think he should avoid JMM. Some styles are just not worth it. Manny is going to struggle more and more now. We will see how his chin handles getting older. Not many fighters have done that well after being stopped. Norris did. And Duran won a title and had a superfight. So it can happen, but you have to mention legends to come up with it. And Duran is of course a legend. Norris is a very good fighter. Can Pacman still win at a high level like Duran or Hearns or others did after being stopped? We will see. The one thing Hearns and Duran did when they got older is fight styles which were better for their style, although for Hearns the second Barkley fight was a bad decision.

Hmmm..,busted nose, getting pummeled before the KTFO, 2 straight convincing rounds by pac before the KO,and the opponent become too excited(lucky for JMM, it allows him to throw that punch), I say JMM need to rematch Pac, else in many peoples mind the win is fluke.
