Fair enough. I wouldnt agree that it isnt anything special, ABA titles mean something to me if nobody else but ill agree to disagree.
Again, i wasnt saying he has the bestr ever record, just threw a name in.

Fair enough, in a discussion like this I'm only giving credit for accomplishments on a world level. Calzaghe was dominant in Britain, any idea why he didn't go for olympics/world champs as an amateur?

Right on, it has to go to Rigondeaux. He was the #1 P4P boxer in the amateurs, only lost 1 tight match which later avenged. Rigo is 2 times Olympic Champ and multiple times World Champ. Gamboa is very close too ...

The first names that spring to mind have already been mentioned, but Jorge Luiz Gonzalez had a record of 220-13 with wins over Stevenson, Lewis, Bowe and Biggs.

I don't think Lomachenko will even come close to being p4p best ever. He is a great amateur and has the tools to be a great pro, however, there is no way he comes close to the majority of the top 50 of all time, maybe not even top 100.

Obviously Savon and Stevenson deserve a mention over all the guys you're mentioning so far.

Obviously not. They always remained amateurs. Did not go pro.

Good shout. Papp is probably the only guy to get inducted to the HOF based primarily on his record as an amateur.

(this goes completely against the mandate of the IBHOF, but it does illustrate just how good an amateur Papp was)
