Default Rustam "Tiger" Khabilov

What do you guys think of this new prospect in the LW division? He absolutely ragdolled Vince Pichel last night, suplexing him into unconsciousness. One of the most impressive debuts that I have seen in a while. This guy appears to be very, very dangerous. I mean, dangerous to the point that he might kill somebody in the future. Last night was not the first time that he has knocked somebody out with a spectacular suplex:

26 years old, 15-1 in MMA, world champion Sambo practitioner, currently training with Greg Jackson. What does the future hold for this guy?

It was really impressive but we need to see him fight a top LW before we no anything we don't know how good his stand up is. If he gets another win and wants to move up the rankings fast he should fight Guillard, he has good wrestling and good stand up (with exception of his chin) with the power to hurt anyone

Very impressive performance. Looks a destroyer of men.

Give him a big step up, from Pichel anyway, who by the way seemed pretty damn solid on TUF in an okay season.

What his only loss all about? Haven't seen it or looked into it.

The commentaters in the other fight you posted seem to think he is not intentionally trying to suplex people on their heads. I think I disagree with that notion..

Maybe he was playing it a bit safe because of Ribeiro's high level BJJ. I don't really recall the fight very well, but I think Khabilov was pretty dominant, either way.

He should have won KO of the night in my opinion. That throw was monstrous. He is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the division.

In his defense Ribeiro is a lot bigger man than Rustam and has fought as a high as MW but I do think we need to see him fight someone a bit higher level than Pichel to really gauge how good he is I think Dos Anjos would be a good test.

Unified MMA rules;

Fouls;

15. A. xxix: Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.

If he is intentionally doing this then what needs to be done? In that first video it looked like the guy might die!!!

I don't think it was an intentional spike, and that is what would be the difference. He might not care whether or not his opponents lands on the head, or neck, but that does not mean he is breaking any rules.

A piledriver looks to be intentional. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

There is more leeway with a suplex.

Because it's a suplex instead of a spiking maneuver like a piledriver. Technically it probably should be illegal because it can still be spiking - but it's not for now.

I love the suplex... trust me you know when you are trying to smash someone on their head

He seems like a bit of a cunt so I hope he gets mangled soon... put him in there with Maynard, Jim Miller or Sanchez I say!!!
