Rees vs Burns should be made

Should be made for both of their next fights IMO. Burns seems pretty scared of Broner in all honesty and I don't think he or especially his team want the fight at all. Rees isn't getting a WBA shot anytime soon and he has really had a pretty poor year in all honesty and Hearn hasn't really promoted him very well.

It would make a great fight between these two both world level operators. I think it would make a great between these two, there styles would really gel together to make a good scrap. For me I think the pressure which Rees would put on could be enough to outpoint Burns who is quite easy to push back IMO. If Rees could get through Burns jab and get on the inside I think he has the tools to beat Bruns to a close decision.

Well I hope Gary lockett only tells gav that if they ever meet but knowing Gary well I'm sure he wont.
This would be a very good fight but one ricky would win

Not all he needs but that is one of the keys in this fight.

Would rather see Burns fight Abril, Vasquez or Broner next. But outside of those fights which likely won't happen anytime soon a fight with Rees is probably the next best fight out there.

Unlikely. I quote Mr Eddie Hearn; 'they made us an offer for tiny money which is less than we pay Gavin for European title fights'.

Hope it gets made though. I'm hopeful both sides will step up to the plate and make it happen.

would love to see this. the hearns/****** split means that neither one of them is going to risk losing a fight against the other or a big purse if it can be avoided. obviously there will be fights that happen between the stables over the next few years, but key matchups like this (you could have stuck rees instead any of burns last few fights including mitchel) wont happen to the detriment of both fighters and british boxing.

this hearns ****** feud means that loads of key fights wont happen.

It's funny how the OP says Burns won't fight Broner then names a fight that is even less likely to happen as a substitute

Rees vs Burns just wouldn't happen, just like Broner vs Vazquez won't happen

Rees however, is another genuine world class fighter who gets shitted on all the time because he doesn't have the hype behind him (and yes, he does have a major weakness in stamina)

guys like Henry Lundy and Beltran get talked about more than Rees ffs and he is ten times the fighter they are. Rees wins a legit title by beating MBaye, but rather than get credit, the talk (from brits) was that MBaye didn't show up, it couldn't possibly be that Rees was just the better fighter. Then Rees gave Kotelnik a good run for his money at light welter (where he was TINY) before gassing and getting stopped late...that is his only loss, no shame there. And he has improved masively since then and is much stronger at lightweight

Mitchell and Murray were getting talked about a lot more than Rees, and Rees IMO is better than both (especially Murray)

High workrate, and good skills, but the way he slipped Derrys last combo and finished him on the counter was something I've never seen from him before, he is on the top of his game and looks more confident than ever

Would be a cracking fight this. Rees has got to be one of the most underrated fighters I know of, really good fighter.

If Ricky's not going to fight Broner then he needs to fight an opponent of some substance. Blokes like Walsh and Ocampo don't cut it. Rees would be tough challenge and would be a great name on Ricky's record if he beat him.
