Ward has pulled out of the fight against Pavlik and Bute has allowed Froch to talk to Kessler's camp. Apparently Bute v Pavlik could go ahead around March time. Is it just me or does anyone else think that this could be one of the best fights not only in the super middleweight division but in the world? Neither guy can afford to lose or their career is virtually over. Pavlik is a come forward fighter who can bang and Bute before the Froch fight was a quick powerful southpaw. I just think if this goes ahead then it could be one of the best fights of 2013.

Good fight this. Bute needs these sort of fights in his rebuilding process. Pavilik just needs a fight of any relevance in order to get himself a decent pay cheque. I expect Bute to limp to another decision win. Be interesting though to see if KP can drag Lucian into the deep water.

This is a MUCH better fight than Ward vs Pavlik. Ward had ran out of options but PAvliks a VERY GOOD come back fight for Bute. Pavlik doesn't seem as potent but still has the size and power and tenacity and experience to pose a threat to Bute. Bute can work on his boxing versus a dangerous yet crude operator.
50-50 fight where the winner is in line for a big fight versus Ward, Froch etc In fact if Pavlik can put on a good show he can throw himself into the mix i.e. facing Kessler should he lose to Froch. Should he win then the Ward fight is bigger. |

I think Pavlik can win this.
He's got some attributes in common with Froch, in that his best punch is his jab, he can double it (sorry!), he's durable and is heavy handed. Obviously against him he's not really been mixing in world class for quite some time, and there's nothing to say he'll be ''on'' like Froch was, and we don't know how much the constant boozing has taken out of him. Let's be honest, he looks like a 40 year old man, despite only just turning 30. I've hit the bottle quite hard, on and off for ten years - some seriously heavy nights out and holidays and shit, but I still look my age. Fuck knows how much he's been putting away. |
