Default Chris John vs. Orlando Salido

Chris John basically has 2 fights left in his exit strategy. I would personally love to see this fight. I think I find it so intriguing because while both fighters are quite good at what they do they are stylistically antithetical and would make for a quality, intriguing fight.

I think a few years ago, I would think that John would have pulled out a decision with relative ease. However, John has shown that he's a bit faded. So, if they were to fight each other next, how do you think this fight would go?

I'd favor Salido. He's getting on in age but I expect him to be too savvy and relentless for Garcia, and likewise for John.

Chris John has a close fight and possibly a win that could have gone either way with an ATG and Prime JMM while Salido lost clearly to JMM.

I'll take the asian by UD over Salido!

I favor Salido over Garcia by a small margin. But if Garcia wins I think there's an excellent chance he'll get the chance to deflower John's undefeated record. HBO has been putting a lot of muscle into publicizing Mikey and I think they'd be willing to put up the cash to make it worth John's time to come to fight for the title.

Whoever wins the Salido-Garcia fight will have a ton of lucrative and compelling fights to move on to. The featherweight division has a lot of good fighters, with Ponce, Dib, Juanma, Caballero, Yordan, and Gonzalez milling around in the top 10.

I'm just curious, does anyone know if the Salido-Garcia winner will be Ring Magazine champ?

Yep, like Chris John fading.

Dude was ready to go in the last round against Rocky Juarez in their rematch.

Salido will be all over him, pressure him non stop and TKO him in the late rounds.

I actually think Chris can take this fight, now or in their primes.

Also, Marquez was Salido's first title fight. If you've seen the fight he wasn't nearly aggressive as he usually is. Could have been intimidated that he was in a title fight against his famous countryman. I think long term it might have helped him more...I could see him receiving career-shortening beating had he been as aggressive as usual against Marquez.

Since then, Salido has been in a lot more title fights and has shared the ring with other great fighters, win or lose. He seems past the point of intimidation now.

Certainly fair. John is still the superior technician between the two and I could see him winning a decision if it goes the distance without too much difficulty.

I would favor John prime vs prime.

However, I find a matchup of the current versions to be pretty intriguing. It's pretty much a matchup of "can the superior operator survive the 12 round onslaught of the unrelenting pressure fighter" type of matchup....and the thing about that is Salido is more savvy than what immediately catches the eye when you what him...and Salido has beaten guys that were considered superior technicians.

I think at this point I'm inclined to thoroughly consider Salido given all the variables....but I think it could be close.

Salido is currently the best fw in the world. John is arguably number 2.

salido loses the early rounds but rallies late to stop him. Like what Juarez twice failed to do.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Chris John has ever been knocked down?

Good way of putting it.
