DAVID HAYE has urged WBC champ Vitali Klitschko to sign up for their world title fight — or be remembered as the man who fought nobodies.
Britain’s former heavyweight champ lost his WBA crown to Klitschko’s younger brother Wladimir in Hamburg last year.

But Haye is still eyeing one last fight before retiring and says a contract has been agreed with the 41-year-old Ukrainian — although nothing has been signed.

The Hayemaker, 32, blasted: “I always assumed he was quite a proud man and wanted to leave some sort of legacy behind, which he won’t do at the moment, because, can you think of any big fighters Vitali has fought?

“He’s had 50 fights against nobodies. The only fight of his that people remember is the one against Lennox Lewis — which he lost.

“He needs a fight people will actually remember — and the only recognised heavyweight out there is myself.”

In Haye we have a man who could be a HOF boxer and well known, but instead he'd rather be a fame hungry " celeb"and a part time boxer who will struggle to get in the HOF.

but sometimes there's a very high price to pay to be known as a HOF fighter or a legendary fighter. Even the greatest sometimes end up in a horrible state, unable to take care of themselves. Not that I'm saying Haye could ever achieve legendary status or anything, even if he wanted to, but his goal was to win a world title, make as much money as possible, and retire with his health intact. Absolutely nothing wrong with this at all, and I think it's a very smart, and sensible choice. He's not gonna end up punch drunk. It's not an exiting choice though, and this is why I've always said that David Haye is not a fans fighter. He's not fan friendly at all. He talks so much shit, and his fans fall for it every time, then act like a spurned lover when he lets them down. Why do they fall for it? Why are they fans of a guy who is more businessman than fighter? A fighter that has no desire to achieve all he could? Like I said, nothing wrong in Haye's choice. Can't knock him for it, but as a boxing fan, I can't cheer for him.

Fully agree.

Whilst never being a fan of Haye I respect fully the skill set he brings to a fight. But as you said Haye is all about the money, hence his selection of fights.
