Shane Knox without a doubt, was an Olympian with Jeff Fenech and Renato Cornett, won a bronze at the world amateur titles when he was only 17. Went 16 -0 as a pro and was no1 ranked WBO lightweight and was finished by 26.
Fenech has said that the hardest fights he ever had were the sparring sessions with Shane and that Shane was his toughest opponent. No doubt he could have won a world title, but like so many, left it all for a woman. |

Ciffy Samardin had the goods. Shame about him.
Dont think James Swan had the goods to be a world champ. yeah he had a promising amateur career but he never faced great opposition in the Ams. The whole Swan clan in Alice were pretty good boxers, James was just a rare case of someone living clean and avoiding the drugs and alcohol that stops so many great central australian athletes in their tracks, so he made it a little further. Would have like to see Cool Willie continue (under the guidance of someone other than Christian). Yeah he had a loss to world renowned Broner and a lucky punch KO loss to Elomar, but he certainly had the speed and ability to go far. |

Cliffy Samardin for sure - 24-0 ranked 5 and 6 by wbc and wba , a young boxing master with great defence . Surely would have gone on and won a World Title if promoted properly - broke me heart when he retired early.

What sort of health concerns? Injuries received, or injuries perceived ? (I tend to think that it could be for a variety of reasons, not associated with health....more to do with circumstances.....aka brickwalls, lack of opportunity, better opportunities in work, weighing up your other committments etc. etc.etc.) |
