Default So... did anybody see Crolla-Murray fight?

Love Anthony as a pundit, think he really knows his stuff, he's always been highly touted from anybody who has worked with him, has looked both very impressive, and then laboursome in his pro career. On his night you can see glimpses of where the hype came from though

John Murray had a well needed break after his consecutive TKO losses to Kevin Mitchell and Brandon Rios (both valiant and bloody affairs themselves) then came back with a routine win followed by an early demolition of usually
uber-tough but undersized scot John Simpson

This fight also had a personal side to it, with Crolla and Murray being long time friends, stable and gym mates during their fighting years around and indeed outside Manchester. Murray had a sour split with longtime trainer Joe Gallagher, yet Crolla stayed as a Gallagher fighter. Details of the split are sketchy and I couldn't begin to speculate, when asked before the fight if he would shake John Murrays hand afterward, he refused to say yes or no (Gallagher)

It lived up to the drama anyway

Amazing night. Crolla beat the bully with skills, conditioning and sheer perseverance after taking his best stuff.

I was very impressed, I went to take a slash inbetween rounds and it seemed like Murray was on top, came at Crolla like a mad man at times, when I came back Anthony was beating John up with sharp combos, he overcame the power deficit brilliantly

Hats off to Crolla, I really thought Murray would be too strong for him but fitness and a good strategy won Crolla the fight. Hope he goes on to acheive big things now.
