Default How much of a "fraud" is Haye, REALLY?

The man did talk more than he could deliver against wlad, but still....

Wbo wba wbc ring magazine cruiserweight champ

Wba heavyweight champ

Cruiserweight of the decade

Let's face it, he achieved more than 99% of fighters ever do, had people excited about the division, and took some tough fights away from home. He also was pretty entertaining most of the time .

I can understand the hardcore Klitschko fans not liking him, but I'm confused by the hatred amongst Americans for him, and ESPECIALLY the Polish (lol wtf)

Is it jealousy that he actually did somewhat well in the division while all your fighters have sucked at heavyweight for years?

The Polish? Perhaps because he never paid attention to Adamek.

The Americans? I don't know, maybe because they never liked his brash style. Which is weird considering they have a lot of guys like him.

A big fraud, he just talked himself up to be great and couldn't deliver, nothing worse than a **** talker who cant back it up

I liked Haye when he was at CW

I was disappointed with the Valuev fight, and lost any respect for him when he showed the world why he lost to Wlado

Yeah he'd of been a fraud if he was just some chump who never even won a title.

As is he's just a good fighter who said he was better than he was, like most of them.

You know I was rewatching the build up of Tua vs Lewis the other day, and Tua was "i'm going to spark him out" this and "i'll destroy him" that, as soon as Tua got caught with a right hand he shelled up and that was it.

**** happens, but people online don't like Haye because he made a lot of noise, a lot of money and was financially succesful.

He viewed his talent as a business asset and made the most he could from it.

Smart man, but won't win him any popularity with internet trolls, not that I suppose he cares.

How people can dare to call Haye a fraud is beyond me.... The guy lost against the Ring heavyweight champion. If Haye actually postponed the fight and allowed his toe to heal, the fight definitely would have been different. I don't know if he would have won but it would have been a lot more closer.

Also, what fraud would dare to fight a 7 foot Russian monster in his own yard? What fraud would fight the best heavyweight fighter in the world and not get knocked down at least once, then go and challenge the 2nd best heavyweight who clearly possesses a more superior KO record?

To be completely honest, in the CW division Haye was actually a breathe of fresh air - he never padded his record and took a difficult and direct route to the title in under 20 fights, all the while being respectful and exciting. In that respect he's actually less of a fraud than a lot of fighters who feast on scruffs for 40 fights before stepping up.

The he stepped up to HW and started talking **** to make a name for himself, taking shot fights solely for the money and rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way by talking bad about a very popular fighter and not leaving it in the ring when it was clear his approach wasn't working. Then to compound it he used an embarrassing excuse for the defeat.

He's basically a good fighter who told people he was going to do a whole lot more than he ultimately turned out to be good enough to deliver.

First look at this thread, I have to agree with the above mentioned. Haye
was very good in CW. In heavyweight what turned me off was the endless
comments and not wanting to back it up or even fight regularly. Mabye its
just me but he seems to want money more then anything and does not want
to box in the ring to earn it. In other words I don't think it matters to him if
he wins as long as he can talk his way into a money fight. Fight more and
earn it.

Peace

He might be clowning at heavyweight but let's get real for a minute here. If Haye didn't come on the scene the division would be as dead boring as it ever was. There was literally NOTHING worth discussing at heavyweight till Haye came on the scene to spice things up.

Not as good as he says he is but better than most people give him credit for.

Ya' know, Haye promised to bring excitement back to the HW division. Not long after that, he retired.

So, in a way, he was true to his word!

Haye kept ****ing on disrespecting US heavyweights, e.g. Arreola. He's right in his criticism but let's face it, Haye hasn't been exactly diplomatic about it and has offered a ton of weakness in his own career to get attacked.

He was involved in terribly boring fights (Valuev and Wlad) while constantly talking about bringing 'toe-to-toe' wars to the division. His toe injury excuse was ridiculed in US boxing media. His entire strategy or talking more than fighting doesn't cut it with Americans. If you talk you have to deliver and be active.

Then again, honestly Haye makes his money in the UK, he won't ever make any money in the US. So Haye is just working his home market and tries to fight as little as possible, just gets active for big paydays.
