Jeff & Fitz's Common Opponents.
Jim Jeffries and Bob Fitzsimmons have several opponents in common.
Lets take a look at how they fared against them.
Joe Choynski wtko 5th rd.
Tom Sharkey 1. l dsq 8th rd *Fitz kod Sharkey with a legitimate punch but was robbed
Tom Sharkey 2.wko 2nd rd
Gus Ruhlin w ko 6th rd
Jim Corbett w ko 14th rd
Jack Johnson lko2rd * Fitz was 46 years old.
Joe Choynski d 20rds
Tom Sharkey1w 20rds
Tom Sharkey 2 w 25rds
Gus Ruhlin1 d 20 rds
Gus Ruhlin2 w* corner retirement between the 5th and 6th rds.
Jim Corbett1 w ko 23rd rd
Jim Corbett 2 w tko 10th rd
Jack Johnson l ko 15th rd
Fitz stopped Choynski, Sharkeyx2, Ruhlin, and Corbett.
Jeffries drew with Choynski, when Jeffries was a novice but he had a 67lbs weight advantage.
Jeffries drew with Ruhlin when both were green fighters,
then stopped him between rds 5 & 6 , 4 years later.
In their first fight Jeffries kod Corbett coming from behind to do so . In the second encounter Corbett was finished and barely lasted into the 10th before being tkod.
Jeffries took a decision from Sharkey over 20 rds, dropping him in the 11th rd. A year later Jeffries again outpointed Sharkey over 25rds.
Both Fitz, and Jeffries were kod by Johnson. Fitz was 46 ,Jeffries 35.
On paper I think Fitz's results are the more impressive anyone agree?

Re: Jeff & Fitz's Common Opponents.
I don't think there's any doubt. On a lot of Jeffries top wins he either had a overwhelming advantage in size or in age. You don't even need to look at what Fitz did in the other weight divisions. Sharkey's stoppage in 2 beats pretty much every win by Jeffries IMO.
