I don't think losing bothers them after awhile - I'm sure losing gets easier and easier to deal with after you've lost a certain number of fights. I think a lot of them get their buzz out of just being able to last the distance or give a good account of themselves against all these hyped prospects, contenders, future champions etc., especially when they know that their opponent takes the game far more seriously than they do. lol. Occasionally they'll spring the odd upset too, which is something I'm sure they take great pride in as well. Here's a really interesting documentary about another British journeymen called Tony Booth who had in excess of 150 fights. It's well worth a watch and it gives a real insight into the life of the journeymen boxer. The other three parts are on Youtube. |
