You know, that's a good question. It's one of those fights I would never bet on.

Most likely, Price will overwhelm Thompson with volume. He won't let him breath. This is something that Wlad doesn't do, and why Thompson, who deserves a lot of credit for his performance in that fight, was able to land a few solid flurries. With Price, you don't have time to think. You have huge power coming at you from both sides, and Price doesn't load-up on his shots so they reach their target very quickly. That's why his defensive holes haven't been a factor so far.

Price just loves to go all "Mago" on a fighter, when the time is right, and it hard to counter those flurries, yet it's mainly at those exact times that Price drops his right. I don't think Thompson has the lightning-fast counter skills to land on Price during such flurries. If Price potshots, though, Thompson certainly has the power to punish him for his mistakes, especially since he's a southy. If Price jabs & doesn't protect his right side, & Thompson lands that big left ....

If I were Price, and I couldn't change or didn't want to change that right-hand style, (it does have the advantage of being hard to see coming) then I simply wouldn't ever fight a southpaw on the inside. Come to think of it, that's exactly how Price fought against Harrison. He stayed back and kept his right up pretty much the entire fight, until the final flurry that took Harrison out.

Hmm.. maybe Price knows what he's doing after all. Time will tell.

^ That's a safe bet, but Price cannot afford to make any mistakes, so this will still be a very interesting fight to watch.

Price certainly has some flaws but he's exciting to watch, has power, i think sometimes his balance is off and as has already been mentioned his defence isnt always tight. really looking forward to seeing how he fares as he steps up a level though. Id go for a Price KO in under 6. I think the prospect of the year is deserved personally

thompson isnt a bad fighter. the way he took apart krasniqi was stunning. especially at the time when a lot of guys where openly supporting krasniqi to a title shot. because of hsi hearty performance against brewster and his 'improvement of pacing' in his two other times out. but the bodyshots, the southpaw style. brilliant. stamped onto him and kept wacking that right to the body.

thompson is a good american edition to the heavys but he is flat footed and has a lack of sharpness and finesse.

he gets caught by bombers. which he hasn't really faced. a tall southpaw body puncher is a good unique fighter but it isnt always a winning combination.

Great observations. I agree with every point.
