No, I don't think Mousasi is overhyped at all. I do stand by my previous point that he won't win the 205 title. That's not because he's overhyped but because Jones would maul him.

I do hope he ends up at 185 for the reasons being bandied about. I also think he's more than capable on the ground, don't see that criticism.

Not a lock for success. But a lock for intrigue. I quite like Mike Kyle by the way, fighting wise he can really bang, so Mousasi doing him with little effort shows me he's still got it, even if he does a bit erratic (looked pretty shite against...who was it, Jardine?)

Superior to Bisping and Bonnar, yes. A challenge for Silva, still no.

The clamor of a fight with Silva is outrageous in itself. He wouldn't string together enough wins to earn a title-shot, let alone cut the necessary weight.

Do I think he sucks? No. But he's meriting shots at Silva and claiming UFC gold. But we both know how worthless this is. I'm sorry for saying he's overrated - it's obviously a subjective feeling, not a law.

So does everyone. Bar the OP, which was clearly a Tongue-in-cheek 'let's start a train post', no one thinks Mousasi is waiting to win a title first chance he gets.

Anyone who has watched the fight with Mo (who again, I seem to rate and no one else does, his MMA boxing was looking really good, even before Feijao caught him) knows how Mousasi will fare against the wrestling-heavy UFC elite.

But they can navigate him around it. He could fight Cung Le on an Oriental card (ex Pride guy and a Vietnamese; Zuffa love these matchups) or Leben, for a guaranteed stand-up battle (and Mousasi likely tears Chris to shreds) or Phillipou.

At light heavy a bout with Gustaffson would be an intriguing stand-up clash I know that.

As for the Weidman fight, I think it's a horrible matchup for him. Interested to see of Weidman's lack of experience might go against him, or that he might not be able to blend his game so well with such a technical striker in front of him. I'd expect a fight similar to the Lawal fight, but with Weidman's more inventive game standing and on the ground to force Mousasi into more.

I can't see how that isn't an interesting fight regardless.

Not saying any of you isn't right, but the guy is still only 28 years old, didn't seems to give a single fuck about fighting 2. For once the guy seems motivated and IMO he has at least started to work on his wrestling.

I still think he is the only genuine threat to Jones (not saying he would win the fight) but at least I don't think Jones would leave the octagon without any traces of a real fight.

Dude, for once I have faith in this guy. The guy has been training combat sport since he is 8. I totally agree that his weakness is the worst possible weakness to have in this sport, but he can learn I'm sure of it.

I'm pretty sure the UFC will match him with a wrestler for his first fight, we will see then how he is really good then.

But IMO if he can get his wrestling at least good enough to beat Rashad, he has better chance then anyone at 205 to beat Jones !

The biggest problem Mousasi has is his inability to mix TDD with his potent standup game. He has decent TDD when he is focusing on just that, but he gets lit up(kinda like Diaz against Sherk I believe). His ground game is excellent, but if he can't keep from getting taken down he will lose point decisions far too often. For instance he definitely did more damage in the fight against Mo, but he lost the fight because he had absolutely no control over where the fight took place.

I have been a fan for a long while now. I have concerns about his aggression and ability to have the ring generalship in face of American judges. He tends to be taken down a lot. Also, gustaohesson is in great form.
