Don't forget janitor, his name wasn't listed on the poll but he def deserves a mention. Whilst I don't really agree on alot of his opinions, they are all backed up by sources and research. He knows his stuff on pretty much anyone before the 1960's and alot on after that.

Yeah, I picked Janitor as my #1 on page two I think, so I agree.

What did he/she/they pack it in for? I missed all this.

Lounge shit. I swear, that place gets under people's skins. Amy came back posting as was, but Sal hasn't been back in the same way. It's a shame. This place is weird. I have no idea why, but I find myself quite connected to fellow posters - you can't say "friends", but sort of. I really liked Sal, so it's a shame.

No but Quintana kicked the crap out of Paul Williams who was being marketed as the toughest test for Floyd. I'm looking forward to saturday februrary 23rd. We've got the the Klitschko-Ibragimov fight plus the Joe Louis documentary. I'll be parking my ass in front of the tube, and snacking on some goodies, while enjoying a few beers.

Jeez i bet you will, nice lineup! Robbi did say he thought Williams might beat Floyd, he's got a bit of a climb back first now tho. We'll see what he is made of.

It'd be more fun to separate it by categories.
- Best poster with unorthodox views.
- Best fight analysis poster.
- Best primary source poster.
etc.

I'd take any of you highly established posters over those who are likely to be found exclusively on the General Forum.

Russell has a fascination with boxing which, when combined with the access to footage and information supplied with this world wide network of technology, will easily get that name on lists like these within a couple of years. It's really people like Russell, Robbi, CzarKyle, PatLowe, etc, etc, etc.....who assure that boxing's history has a future, and make posters such as these the real MVPs of forums like this.

John Garfield doesn't seem inclined to indulge in idle speculations, but offers first hand accounts and reminisces instead. Yet his enthusiasm projects him as if he was in his teens or twenties. Usually, one could expect that such a character should have an intractible bias against more contemporary subjects, but he doesn't obviously display any of that. A splendid combination of youthful exhuberance and maturity. Beyond that, he is monumentally economical and pithy with his postings.

Threads asking questions like this one are an essential staple of forums like ESB. For my money though, John Garfield is the best poster on ESB, letter for letter, syllable for syllable, word for word, and post for post (which automatically makes me inferior to him, as he wouldn't indulge in speculation like this).

Ultimately, it really comes down to who you like the most. However, there's simply no way that super prolific posters like janitor, McGrain, Manassa, Sonny's Jab and Holmes' Jab should be excluded from consideration, as they are parts of the motor which keep the Classic Forum running.

You take that category by the length of a street.

One poster that hardly ever gets his props is Mantequilla. He doesn't post much, and doesn't engage in many debates, but he comes and blasts threads apart with some facts and ****s right off, lol. He's quite educational.

There's plenty of good posters here, it's kind of meaningless to try and pick just one, or even a handful really. Much easier to spot out the bad than the good imo, which is a good sign of a forum's health.

Yeah, and Mantequilla's omission really betrays the "flavor of the moment" nature of questions like this.
