Round 5
Gethin is throwing powder puff combos and pushing Murphy across the ring. Murphy is trying to get set on the back foot but can't. Lots of upper body movement to slip the jabs, but he isn't throwing back. Gethin is hooking the body on the way forward. Murphy's corner yells at him to get off the ropes. Murphy moves in and leads with his head again. Combo by Gethin pinning Murphy to the ropes again. Big hooks and uppercuts to the body by Gethin, still not putting a lot of snap on them but with increasing urgency and growing more accurate. Murphy is cut. Gethin loops a right to the head, then a hook, then goes to the body. Murphy is trapped on the ropes. Gethin swarms down on him. All Murphy can do is cover up and absorb it. A few jabs stuck out by Murphy, then bouncing his back off the ropes to aid in his dodging. Hook to the body by Gethin. 10-9 Gethin 49-46 Gethin |

Round 7
Gethin steps out to center ring to meet Murphy, who whips up a left hook. Murphy stays with the left hook, applying it repeatedly. Gethin adjusts with a step outside and tosses in long shots, underhanded with the left and over the top with his right. Murphy is kept at a distance but keeps chucking in those left hooks. Murphy does a half-split to drop under a Gethin jab. Left hook by Murphy while backing up. Gethin taps him back with a light combination. Gethin keeps the jab on Murphy's face, which is looking worse for wear from the accumulation. Gethin is jabbing and pushing out the right cross into Murphy's gloves, keeping him in retreat and offensively blunted. Another big left hook upstairs by Murphy, adrift and caught on the arm. Light combo by Gethin, most of it hitting gloves. 10-9 Gethin 69-64 Gethin |

I had it close but clear to Theophane probably with a bit of bias as you have to respect theophane moving over there. Bunce is playing that up a bit...as usual

I'm pleased for Gethin, his body shots were really good. I remember him beating John Feweks back on ITV but his career never really pushed on from there.
I'd love to see him get the winner of Matthews V's Crolla rematch. |

I don't think fighting Jason Welborn at Walsall Town Hall is what many people imagined Frankie Gavin to be doing over 5 years after his World Championship gold.
