Default The Second Greatest Italian-American Boxer ?

I think we can all agree that Willie Pep is the greatest, right ???

But I was wondering, who would be the second greatest ??

Vinny "Piccolo Guido" Di St Francescini Angelini or as he was known in the fight game, Jimmy "The Harlem Tater Eater" McCafferty.

A slicker pug we never knew.

He's not going to make the top 100 P4P list in that other thread. I asked for him to be considered in my defense.

Some of the highlights of the "Scotch Wop", Johnny Dundee:

2 wins over Benny Leonard
3 wins over Rocky Kansas
6 wins over George KO Chaney

wins over champs and top men like Willie Ritchie, Eugene Criqui, Jimmy Goodrich, Leach Cross, Johnny Ray, Benny Valgar, Mexican Joe Rivers (3 wins), Lou Bogash, Ever Hammer (twice), Charley White (3 times), Ritchie Mitchell (twice), Philadelphia Pal Moore (twice), Joe Shugrue (3 times), Willie Jackson (3 times), Joe Welling (3 times).

Very few Italian-American fighters can top that resume. An outstanding fighter.

I'm getting to re-post that for the other thread. I only see one win over Leonard, and wasn't it a green Leonard though?

He had already been fighting for about 4 years, had fought top guys and had over 60 fights by their 1st fight (3/2/1915), so I wouldn't say green. Benny had definitely hit his stride by the time their 2nd bout happened on 11/15/1916. He'd been in there with the best at that point.
