Default When Journeymen Deserved...

The nod over fighters higher on the food chain, but didn't get them for one reason or another. Fights that could of potentially made those journeymen into something more.

Fairly early in Marion Wilson's career he more or less dominated a unmotivated Ray Mercer over the course of 10 rounds and was robbed of the decision. The commentators flat out called is disgusting, and it was. The fight was ruled a draw.

Wilson had zero jab before that, but he trained and sparred with new fighters and had a different trainer, and it showed. He looked respectable. Very respectable.

Who knows what an indestructable guy like Wilson could of done springboarding off the motivation of a win over Mercer. Instead he slipped back into being a stupidly durable journeyman. Not saying he would of been the best in the world, or even a champion... But even as he is he's upset more than one undefeated prospect and beaten Mercer.

Puritty beat Tommy Morrison in my opinion as well. Floored him twice, and Tommy looked like he was beaten with a wrench at the end of the fight.

Once again, it was a draw.

Thoughts?

I guess the obvious choice is Emmanuel Augustus.

He seems to get jobbed a lot.

Eh, his actions in the ring piss judges off, Whitaker style.

And he's been caught up in racism against him in matches as well

Peter Buckley has lost 239 decisions; I reckon at least 50 of them by just one round; so probably half of them Buckey deserved at least a draw, thus Peter Buckley has been unlucky in a decision in perhaps 25 fights. Also he has 11 draws, maybe all of them going against him, but even if you say only half, that still makes 30 fights where Buckley probably deserved the decision in his career.
