That's an ignorant statement. He has been fighting since he was 9 years old, and was extremely inspirational to his fans. Thank you Kelly, it has been a wonderful ride. God bless you and your family.

Ehhh, different situations though. Floyd was on top of the sport and in his prime and is regarded as a fighter that could compete in any generation, Kelly is pretty far from that and has taken some punishment in his time.

Its difficult to walk out the sport. I respect he made such a decision. But I fear he will not fill that void and be a bar drunkard and whatnot..

If only people like RJJ, Mosley and Holyfield had such sense

Floyd was the man at the time of his retirement, it seemed like an odd time to bow out. Pav on the other hand is clearly on the slide and chose retirement. Different scenarios.

I think the sad part is that Garcia gym and training regiment were keeping him away from the booze. I'm afraid he'll go back to full time alcoholic now. I really hope that I'm wrong but I think it was best for him to hang out in the sport for another couple of years, even if it was only for the discipline.

Although I'm on board with Kelly's retirement, its too bad we didn't see him against AA, Froch, or Kessler.

No big surprise, the last few years many times he talked about wanting to retire and get out of the game because he did not want to risk his health.

I thought after the Ward fight he should retire, but that fight did not happen so he mise well retire now.

The boxing gym is a good idea and he said in an interview it will be more then just boxing it will be a place where kids can do all different types of sports and get training in those sports.

This is bad news. He's got a point in what he is saying, but...there's good fights out there for him.
Bute, Abraham, Chavez jr, Degale, Groves.

It's a shame because he never really had a big fight post rehab.

I just read that article. Well, I wish him a happy retirement. I don't think it will last though. He will need money.

Strange timing, considering he was willing to fight Ward recently.
And he had been on a winning streak, albeit it against mediocre opposition.

Hes also only 30.

Still,if the drive isnt there, its best to step away from the game.
When the motivation goes, thats when you can get seriously hurt.

Still though, if boxing histoey is anything to go by...he'll be back.

The guys had a notible career.

Undisputed middleweight champ.

Beaten only twice by 2 HOF fighters.

I'll bet Robert Garcia thought he'd make a few more Benjamins with Kelly.
Bet he's ****ing sick!

Pavlik isn't shot. I was hearing all type of crap about how he's a beat under Garcia. I feel bad for him too for having to waste his time with this alcoholic. Yall are treating him like he's retarded or sick.
He wasted all of our time. I bet espn regrets doing a 360 piece on him

The right decision considering his current situations. He has demons to defeat. Kelly hasn't been right since Hopkins. I don't think Kelly will get back to his best potential again - it just isn't there anymore for him I guess.

Provided some good fights for Boxing.

Wish Kelly success in the future. All the best.
