He wasted all of our time. I bet espn regrets doing a 360 piece on him
Exactly how has he wasted your precious time???

Its HIS career!

One that has been rather successful in comparison to 99.9% of guys who first lace up the gloves as kids.

He can do as he pleases.

Best of luck to him.

He doesnt owe anyone anything.

oh the double standards on this site is too much. I was and I'm sure mos people were excited to see him in his comeback at 168 under his new trainer. He had a few tuneup fights and was ready for a big fight. Ward is injured and canceled, so instead of fighting somebody else in the meantime or waiting for Ward to recover, he just retires.
I wish he warned me a couple years ago that he wasn't serious about this shit.

Hes also only 30.

Still,if the drive isnt there, its best to step away from the game.
When the motivation goes, thats when you can get seriously hurt.

Still though, if boxing histoey is anything to go by...he'll be back.

The guys had a notible career.

Undisputed middleweight champ.

Beaten only twice by 2 HOF fighters.
A notible career which includes 2 wins over Jermaine Taylor and ... ?

And no, he was not undisputed middleweight champ.

He could of also fought Abraham, maybe not a big payday as Jr. or Ward but still a hefty payday if that is what he wanted.

Bernard took his soul. Martinez buried what was left.

Now he can stick to full time training with his buddies Jose Cuervo and Jack Daniels.

He achieved more than anyone thought he would which is why a lot of people hate on him. He's earned a lot of hate but he gets a lot because many people always hated him and he's an easy target now. Not too many fighters achieve what he did.

Some thoughts on that article and these posts:

@ that little dig at pac

I hear strip mall I see money pit

I don't think he's lying when he says he's been rolling this around for years

Joe would have won but he did duck Pavlik. Called him out, "invited" him to fight after Taylor, ESB front page article, was a driving force behind Pavlik fighting his stablemate, Pavlik asked the fans after if that's the fight they wanted, and then joe slips out the back door and fights a faded RJJ. It still eats joes fans up and they'll piss and moan about who would have won but it did happen.

Hopefully it's a peaceful retirement and there is no comeback.

Stop acting like he owed you shit. Don't be an entitled faggot.

Fact is your bringing Mayweather into this has no place. Their retirements were under completely different conditions as multiple people have pointed out, and like I said, no one really believed Mayweather was retiring. And he didn't actually retire.

Kelly squandered what talent he had and has killed who knows how many braincells binge-drinking like a slutty white girl in college. Shot from taking shots in the ring or shot from taking shots in his living room, Pavlik is done. Mayweather wasn't and isn't.

I'm not a Pavlik fan (I'm a Taylor fan--how could I be?), but he's leaving at the right time.

I don't know why he is retiring, there are fights for him at 160 and 168, winnable fights.

But better to quit too soon than too late. Best of luck to him with life.

Oh so nobody beleived Floyd was leaving for good, but he still got shit for it despite him leaving because of his body breaking down and his heart not being into boxing.

Same shit with Kelly, but I hear "oh good for you Kelly. Good job Kells. We love you man. We need to have a drink together soon man. Yeah good job, you beat Jermaine Taylor twice, so you're allowed to retire"

And if you truely believe he's shot, then I understand were you're coming from. But I don't think he's done. If he puts the damn drinks down and keeps training under Garcia, he'll be fine. He's not at his peak, but he's not shot
