Even if Dempsey catches him Holmes had great recovery powers and one of the biggest hearts in heavyweight history. Larry Holmes hit hard enough to stop Dempsey in his tracks and once he does that he is in control.

Dempsey would be catching too much leather, far too often and would get stopped late. I'm thinking past the 10th tho.

The reason I said Demsey was a great 20-30 round fighter was because, one he's an all time great and secondly if I stand corrected being that Dempsey fought in the era that was immediately post bare-knuckle era he did fight in 20 round fights and had at least one or two matches that went close to 30 rounds.

Dempsey's longest fight was 15 rounds, I believe. Holmes who is also an all time great, and who the majority of people rate higher than Dempsey, went 15 rounds multiple times and never showed stamina problems and if anything came on stronger later in the fights.

Atleast Snipes got to eat before fights... I think Dempseys inablility to get food for a few days before the fight may JUST MAY have affected him a little in the fight...
Unless all fighters dont eat for 4 or so days before a fight...
