Carlos Ortiz vs Ken Bunchanan

Buchanan fought an aging Ortiz after just being dethroned by the masterful Roberto Duran, but how would he have fared against the Ortiz that battered Battling Torres in 1960? 15 rounds, Lightweight. I've seen very little footage of either men so I wouldn't like to comment, but it'd be nice to hear from some of our knowledgeable posters on this match-up.

I don't put any stock in the past prime win but I think Buchanan may have had the style to beat Ortiz. Not that he was better or greater, just that his movement, jab, rangyness combined with his toughness and workrate could see him win a decision over prime Ortiz

It's a very tough one to call. Ortiz was the greater fighter overall, but I think I may agree with PowerPuncher for once.

I agree with you here PP. It was a matter of styles..Buchanan would beat Ortiz. Ken proved his toughness vs Duran...if it weren't for that low blow, it would have gone the full 15...and that first round "knockdown" was bullshit.

Ken was well beaten though, even without the "bullshit" knockdown.

I think Ortiz goes 15 with Duran at 135lbs, and he'd probably be closer to winning than Kenny was too.

Didn't say he wasn't Addie. I was exclaiming on Ken's toughness, that's all. He would have lost a wide decision to Duran if he hadn't got his nuts cracked.
